Even the smallest of areas can be put to
work. “The closets were small but deep, which is perfect for adding shelves,”
John says. Separated by a structural wall, the closets now serve two functions.
The left side is outfitted for office supplies and serves as a charging station. A
flat-screen TV sits inside the right closet, viewable from the love seat. Audio
and other media components are stored underneath.
HIDDEN ASSETS
A pair of underused
closets,
above,
begged for more
storage solutions.
WIRED ACCESS
Electrical outlets
installed inside the
closets allow for a
TV on one side and
charging station on
the other.
SOFT EDGES
Drapery rods are
fitted around the
closets and window
using corner
connectors
(available at home
centers). “Curtains
are less imposing
than doors, and now
the closets join
together,” John says.
FILE IT AWAY
John brightened up
file cabinets,
below,
with orange spray
paint specially
formulated for
metal surfaces.
